May 1: Campground opens for the season

May 5 – 7: "Leaf Busters" & Cinco de Mayo: Camp FREE on Friday and Saturday evening in exchange for helping us "bust" the leaves from the back of the park on Saturday. Wear your serapes and sombreros to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Saturday evening with a Virgin Margarita Hour and Taco Bar ($1.00/taco) followed by Mexican games, piñata, Candy Bar Bingo and cartoons!

May 12 – 14: Mother's Day Weekend: Treat mom to a weekend of camping including a pajama party (play Twister, and enjoy a movie with popcorn) for the whole family on Saturday evening. Sunday morning features a pancake breakfast so mom doesn't have to cook! (Free for moms!)

May 19 – 21: Gardening Galore! Camp 2 nights for the price of 1 and help get all of our plants & flowers planted for the season! Learn about gardening with wildflowers and native plants in a program presented by the Otsego Conservation District. Kids can decorate a special flower pot and transplant a seedling to take home, and adults can create some stylish garden art!

May 26 – 29: Memorial Day: Season Opener for Summer: Seasonals-vs.-Weekend Warriors softball game, crafts, the annual Indian River Boxcar Race, family-friendly pool party with games and prizes, light – up wagon ride and more! Pancake breakfast on Sunday morning (free for service men/women/vets) Pool opens for the summer!

June 2 – 4: Easter! Traditional Easter fun throughout the campground including an Easter egg hunt for the kids and a very special Easter egg hunt for the adults (a chance to win free camping if you find the goose and get the golden egg!) Easter crafts, Easter Basket Relay and more.

June 9 -11: Bewitched by Birds: Weekend activities for bird-lovers (and others!). Learn about our common native birds and birding activities from Mary Trout, a volunteer with the Little Traverse Conservancy; build a bird house or bird feeder to take home ($), or a "yard bird" from recycled materials. Go on an evening Snipe hunt!

June 16 – 18: Father's Day Weekend: Horseshoe Tourney for dads (sign up for teams depending on the type of campsite you're on!), Dads-vs-sons Tug-O-War. Kids can make dad a special gift during crafts time. Dads & Daughters Movie Night with popcorn. Sunday morning features a Pancake Breakfast (free for dads!)

June 23 – 25: Wags & Whiskers: A special weekend for you and your dog! We'll kick off the fun with a "Pooch Parade" on Friday evening. On Saturday we'll do paw painting, measure your canine's capability in an obstacle course, and wrap up the day with the highlight - the doggie talent show!

July 1 – 4: Independence Day Celebration: Canada Day & Fourth of July fun! Face painting; bike, trike, wagon parade, ice cream social, watermelon bowling, and a red, white and blue glo parade. Information for all the local celebrations and fireworks displays provided at check-in!

July 7 – 9: Christmas in July: Indulge in some of your favorite traditions in the middle of the summer! Show your Christmas spirit and decorate your site for a chance to win free camping! Make ornaments, decorate Christmas cookies (and enjoy them with some milk!), and visit with Santa Saturday evening at the pavilion. (Parents, please bring a small gift for Santa to pass out to your children)

July 14 – 16: Awesome Amphibians & Reptiles: Learn about amphibians & reptiles, including those native to Michigan. Seth Rock (a herpetologist – an expert in amphibians/reptiles) & his wife, Marianne, from the Tropic Cove Pet Shop in Petoskey will bring some live specimens and share their extensive knowledge in an entertaining format. Pond exploration and crafts round out the weekend.

July 21 – 23: Rannygazoo Races: Join us for a weekend of racing fun! Races of all kinds, as well as a race styled after a popular TV show; wacky challenges, road blocks, but no eliminations! Fun and prizes for all ages!

July 28 – 30: Sci-Fi Weekend: Good-vs-evil competitions rule the weekend! Dress as your favorite character, build a space ship from recycled materials, or create an alien from a sock!

August 4 – 6: Haunted Halloween: A full moon will light your way on the haunted trail! For the faint of heart we'll have a not-so-haunted Halloween party, and we'll trick or treat around Chipmunk Circle! Halloween games and crafts round out the weekend.

August 11 – 13: Campground Mystery Weekend: It's a mystery! We can't divulge any clues now, but you'll need your super-sleuthing skills to solve this one!

August 18 – 20: Stupendous Solar System: Saturday evening will feature a night sky program presented by NASA Solar System Ambassador Bryan Shumaker. Round out the weekend with other solar system related crafts and games.

August 21: Total Solar Eclipse: First since 1979! The eclipse will be partially visible from northern Michigan, and the Headlands International Dark Sky Park, located just over 30 miles from the campground, will present a program about the eclipse at the Waterfront Observatory. August 25 – 27: Chinese New Year: Wear red, the Chinese color of good fortune, and join us for colorful parades, crafts and Chinese games. What will your fortune cookie reveal about you or your future?

September 1 – 4: Labor Day Weekend: This holiday was created to recognize American laborers, so take the weekend to enjoy some time off! We don't have a specific theme for this weekend, but we'll plan activities, games and crafts that the whole family can enjoy.

September 8 – 10: No theme this weekend, just good old camping fun including games, crafts, and Candy Bar Bingo.

September 15 – 17: No theme this weekend, just more good old camping fun!

September 22 – 24: Simply Marvelous Mammals: Learn about some of our native mammals; then see how many you can observe in the campground, or the surrounding woodlands. Make a mammal sock puppet, play animal Bingo.

September 29 – October 1: No theme this weekend, just old-fashioned camping fun, including hiking, crafts and Candy Bar Bingo.

October 6 - 8: No theme this weekend, just more old-fashioned camping fun.

October 13 – 15: Halloween Party Plus! Freaky face painting, ghoulish games, creepy crafts, ghost stories around the campfire, scary scavenger hunts and a haunted trail...come join in the fun! Decorate your site for Trick – or- Trunk – or – Treating!

October 15: Campground closes for the season!
